Happy birthday to my friend, Tierra!

It all started with my friend Tierra wanting to visit Haiti for her birthday.  She asked me to plan the trip and I was hesitant at first, not having been to this country before I needed to do a bit of research before sending 3 women there for celebrations. I found that a Visa was not needed, it was only a short flight from Atlanta, U.S money stretched a little once there, and safety was just like any other foreign country that I've traveled to (always be aware of your surroundings and be smart with not flashing your money around).  I coordinated with her other 2 friends (who were leaving from other states) to meet up with her at the airport in Haiti.  I told Tierra that unfortunately because of my corporate job at the time, I wasn't able to make the trip. :(  Little did she know... with our flights booked, my surprise plan was in motion!

Next step was to find the accommodations.  I found this amaaaaazing spot in Jacmel.  It was a treehouse! Yes a treehouse!

Thanks AIRBNB, a true life saver!

As you can see above, the treehouse sat comfortably on top of a hill overlooking the ocean. The 2 bedrooms had bunkbeds, a common area and breakfast area for the guests to use, and even a private bungalow (bottom right picture) that I reserved special for Tierra.  Do you see the view though?  PERFECT!!

Long story short, I surprised Tierra the day after she arrived and showed up at the treehouse. She was SO SURPRISED, and lots of happy tears were flowing :) We enjoyed the town of Jacmel, I even took a surfing class for the first time! Set up by our lovely Airbnb hosts, it was one of the scariest things I've done for sure but definitely worth it.  We met AMAZING people, two of them were Paul & Morgan who are musicians (look them up!). They happen to be playing at a local lounge that night so we were able to see their show! SOOOO GOOD!  Then we saw them again at the beach the next day, where we were lucky enough to get a private jam session.  Slowly the kids and neighbors heard the sweet music and made their way over to enjoy with us.  Thanks again Paul & Morgan!

Eating fresh caught lobster, seafood, and Haitian goods, felt like we were in heaven.  And we couldn't leave this amazing country without an impromptu photoshoot of course ;)  Here are a few shots  of us from the lovely beach in Jacmel.
