Road Trippin- What to see from Dallas to Atlanta

Are you about to take a road trip from Dallas to Atlanta or vice versa? If you really want to go the scenic route then all of the sites will tell you to stop through New Orleans... but what if you don’t have that kind of time?!

The quickest way is straight on I-20... about a 10.5-11 hour drive. I decided to try this faster route and find some quick places to stretch our legs. Scroll down to see my suggestions!

Once you get out of Texas, the first state you hit is Louisiana.

Cris and I didn’t stop to eat because I was sleeping through most of the state Lol and it was so early in the morning none of the restaurants were open yet. Our original plan was to stop for a quick lunch in Monroe at this cafe on the river called Trapps. (If you’re passing by Monroe during dinner, then stop at a restaurant called Cotton.) Let me know if you’ve been to these before! I’ll have to save them on my list for next time.

The next state, I was sure to be awake for! The welcome center for Mississippi is a great place for a quick stretch and plenty of photo ops of course!

While my partner Cris & I were taking pics of the Vicksburg bridge, we saw a casino right next to us on the river! (It’s huge, you can’t miss it) So naturally we just had to go explore. Cris and I ended up spending over an hour in the casino playing the slots and I was definitely enjoying the free cocktails since she was driving Lol!

I walked out tipsy, and we broke even... that’s a WIN WIN!

The last state before you hit Georgia, is Alabama!

I made it a point to find a place in Alabama for some good eats. What could be better than BBQ?! Only about 1 mile off highway I-20, in the town of Tuscaloosa is the original Dreamland Bar-B-Que.  If you are craving yummy BBQ then this is the place to stop, because that’s all they serve! Check out their menu below.

note: this location on 15th Ave, does Not have the sandwich option.

Yes, there are other places to stop on your road trip besides the ones I mentioned above. For example you will pass multiple state parks while driving on I-20.  Research which one you want to stop and visit before getting on the road, this will save you tons of time.

Hope this helps a bit & thanks for reading!
