5 TIPS for Iceland's Blue Lagoon!

The Blue Lagoon

#thescenictraveler

The Blue Lagoon , one of the 25 Wonders of the World.  This was my first destination in Iceland, I didn't even check-in to my accommodations yet because it was too early in the morning. After landing is when I actually decided to visit the lagoon since I had time to kill, so I bought the ticket directly from the airport desk after you leave baggage claim. Luckily, it included the roundtrip shuttle bus too! From the airport to the Lagoon, and the Lagoon to the city of Reykjavik.  Only approx $112 usd, but it was completely worth it!

Tip #1: Try to purchase your ticket (far) in advance, to save money.

Tip #2: GO EARLY & plan to stay for 4+hrs.

The Lagoon opens at 8am and I'm so happy I went at that time! I was able to enjoy the amenities for about an hour and half before the crowds rolled in.  There is a swim up bar, and they use bracelets to ring up food/drink so no need to worry about your wallet getting wet! But I should have picked up those mini wine/champagne bottles from the airport before leaving, it would have saved me $$ in the end.  The spa gives you a wristband that acts like your wallet and also your key for the complimentary locker. Towels and bathrobes are for rent (I luckily brought my own towel). If you get hungry there is a little bistro inside that offers snacks, sandwiches, and drinks to purchase.  For a relaxing natural spa like experience, I definitely recommend this place.

Needless to say my solo adventure in Iceland started off perfectly :)

This was my first stop on my solo trip to Iceland! No filters, video is straight from my GoPro. May, 2017 (music: Joe Hertz- At Dawn)

Tip #3: Bring your own mini alcohol bottles (if you're on a budget).

Tip #4: Don't take pictures the ENTIRE time. Relax and enjoy the spa!

Tip #5: Bring shower shoes, it's sanitary & I'm a clean freak LOL

Update:  If you want to stay overnight, there is now hotel accommodations that is attached to the Lagoon!  Here is the official website: BlueLagoon.com
